NEW ENTRY - "Better late than never"

STAR DATE 16.492.19.2931 cal=6-3-2008

I will begin as I usually do with the Geek content. If I remember correctly I promised you some links to information about some of the new and cool products. I hope that you’re ready for this…it will be a hand full.

I will give the name of the product and then a brief description of what you might see at the site; tools, demos, downloads, etc. followed by the link to the content.

Saddle up and let’s get this show on the road.

SharePoint – At this site you will be able to view actual SharePoint sites, demo’s of the SharePoint server and some its most productive features. You will also be able to download SharePoint Server 2007 as well as some of the templates that will help you get your SharePoint site up and running quickly.

WARNING: I have to caution you at this point about trying to create a “production site”
within SharePoint without careful planning and consideration for the overall
use of the site and the “why” for its existence. You can very quickly end up
with a “top heavy” site that leaves you wanting for use and control. Spend
the time to plan your site and its hierarchy and you will be much happier for
much longer with your overall site and its functionality. SharePoint can lead
to greater efficiency and less managerial “busy” work when implemented in
a thoughtful and dare I say cautious manner. You can find a SharePoint
specialist at most Microsoft Partner locations to assist with this planning.

Windows Server 2008 Overview – This site is just like the name implies an overview of the product and many of the cool new features. I won’t steal the sites thunder by listing them here, you will just have to visit the site and discover them for yourself. If you are really a Geek and have been using or implementing Server 2003 on any level then you should set aside several hours for this one. It is that cool and definitely worth the effort.

I will get back with you in a day or 2 with the rest of the links. I don’t want to overwhelm you with all of the sites at one time. “All things in moderation.” I know that these few sites and their content will keep you busy for several hours if not days.

“I’LL BE BACK”

I couldn’t help myself.

Now for the Cowboy content.

I was blessed to be able to spend the day the…wait for it…The Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis Indiana a few weeks back. The venue was Indy and not NASCAR but when you are standing in a 3rd floor “Gasoline Alley” sweet and see Danica Patrick fly past, and I do mean FLY, it doesn’t matter if you are a NASCAR or Indy fan, you are a really a racing fan. If you can’t appreciate the sport of auto racing in all of its forms then you need to lighten up a bit boy. Even cowboys should have an open mind from time to time. Did I really just say that??? Wow, I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Well some of us old dogs anyway.

The noise was unexpected and exhilarating both at the same time. I can’t wait to go back and see one of the “Brickyard” races. Man I am a lucky man.

As a side;  I am up to 65 pushups today and am finding it easier to stick with it so far. For those of you who have not read any of my previous posts I stated earlier that I add 1 more pushup each day than I did the day before. I have been a bit back-sliding with my regiment in the past but am finding it easier to keep it going than it was to start back up again. I think this will be the one that sets me up to succeed.

That’s it for now.

Remember…

“Cowboy-up!”

“Always help someone in need.” &

“Share a smile with someone who doesn’t have one.”
