We are pleased to announce the Microsoft US Influence Program to US-based Certified Partners in the Microsoft Partner Program. Your organization now has an opportunity to be recognized for its revenue contribution to the Select License and Enterprise Agreement (EA) Microsoft Volume Licensing programs.
Developed in response to feedback from our partners to be recognized for their influence contributions to Enterprise Agreement (EA) and Select Agreement sales opportunities that are fulfilled by our Large Account Resellers, the Microsoft US Partner Influence Program is a benefit of Microsoft Partner Program membership for US partners.
Microsoft Open License is not included in the influence program, as revenue recognition is already part of that license acquisition model. Microsoft partners should continue to procure Open License through Microsoft US authorized distributors. Through June 29, there is a partner rebate available for licenses acquired through Open Value.
Announcing Influence Bank, a secure, online reporting tool that reflects the Enterprise Agreement and Select Agreement licensing revenue your company has influenced, as reported by participating Large Account Resellers (LAR).
Please add this page to your Favorites and check back frequently for an updated list of participating LARs.
What is the Influence Program?
Most licenses for Microsoft software are acquired by customers through a volume license agreement (VL), which may be Open License, Select Agreement, or Enterprise Agreement. While Open License agreements may be purchased by you through distribution for your customer, Select and Enterprise Agreements may only be purchased by your customer directly from an authorized group of partners, Large Account Resellers (LAR). By participating in the Influence Program, you can now be recognized for your involvement in driving Select and Enterprise Agreement transactions.
How does the Influence Program work?
First, review the list of participating Microsoft LARs . You choose the LAR or LARs with whom you wish to work. The LAR provides pricing, contract, and transaction assistance to you and your customer, and you provide the LAR with your Microsoft Partner Program ID (MSPP ID) number as part of the transaction. The LAR will report that MSPP ID number to Microsoft.
What are the requirements to participate in the Influence Program?
Your organization must be an active member of the Microsoft Partner Program. At the time the EA or Select Agreement is transacted with a participating LAR [link to list], please be prepared to provide your organization’s MSPP ID number, which is used to identify you as the influencing partner.
Learn more about the details of the Influence Program by downloading the Microsoft Partner Guidebook PDF .

Secure and Agentless Inventory
The Windows Vista Hardware Assessment Solution Accelerator provides secure, agentless inventory for up to 25,000 computers. It collects and organizes system resource and device information, network wide and remotely, from a single networked computer. Assessment tools often require users to first deploy software agents on all computers to be inventoried. The Windows Vista Hardware Assessment does not require the deployment of any software agents on the individual computers.
The Windows Vista Hardware Assessment Wizard can inventory and scan computers on a network that are running an operating system that supports Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). This includes the following operating systems:
•
Windows Vista (already migrated)
•
Windows XP® Professional (SP2)
•
Windows Server 2003™ or Windows Server 2003 R2.
•
Windows 2000 Professional or Windows 2000 Server
Note
All data is securely encrypted between the computer being inventoried and the computer running this tool.

Comprehensive Hardware and Device Compatibility Analysis
The Windows Vista Hardware Assessment provides detailed analysis on hardware and device compatibility for Windows Vista. The tool also provides the option to check for updates to the compatibility data.
The analysis identifies which computers are already ready for Windows Vista migration and identifies the computers that could be ready for migration to Windows Vista after hardware upgrades. The tool identifies and recommends hardware upgrades, but does not recommend costly hardware upgrades, such as CPU upgrades.
The analysis also determines which hardware devices have device drivers available on the Windows Vista installation DVD, which hardware drivers can be downloaded from Windows Update, and devices which require contacting the manufacturer to obtain a device driver.

In-Depth Readiness Reporting
The Windows Vista Hardware Assessment Wizard generates custom reports containing both high-level and detailed assessment results. The results are provided in the following documents:
•
A Microsoft® Excel® workbook containing spreadsheets that provide detailed results of the inventory and assessment. The information in this report provides a level of detail typically needed by an IT implementer.
•
A Microsoft Word document that summarizes the results of the inventory and assessment for all computers that are currently running a Microsoft Windows® client operating system. The summary report provides information typically needed by a business decision maker.
