P to V Migration...what the heck does that mean?

P = Physical

V = Virtual

Microsoft has a toolset to help with your migrations from physical hardware to Microsoft's Virtual Server environment.  This is one toolset that I have NOT played with yet but plan to prior to Christmas.  Thinking about this, I will probably dig into it over the Christmas Holiday...between the Egg Nog (is that one word or two?  I do know that my daughter tried it for the first time last week and gave it a solid Thumbs Down) and pumpkin pie.  My "Little Server That Could" needs to be retired and I am going to migrate it into a virtual environment on my new Dell SC440.  Here is a link to the toolset:  http://www.microsoft.com/technet/virtualserver/downloads/vsmt.mspx

Enjoy!

What are your customers missing out on with technology?

10 years ago, cellphones were not as popular as they are today.  Today, how many of you work in the car (on the phone) while picking the kids up from school/taking them to soccer practice?  Cellphones have changed the way we live and work.  This is technology making a gentle but significant impact (over time) on our day to day lives.  Letting us work the way we want to work, rather than being tied to a desk (phone).  Today's technology allows us to do things that we would not consider in the past.  For example, I would not even have considered killing 15 minutes in DFW airport writing a blog post on my laptop.  What about the power of VoIP?  What about the latest wave of Microsoft Unified Communications software?  Have you checked out Office Communication Server?  It can enable people to go from a simple IM conversation right to a phone call, then integrate a PowerPoint presentation with Live Meeting integration.  Of course, with Microsoft software powering the experience!  There are endless opportunities to build revenue around this new wave of technology.  Think about how you (the Microsoft Partner) work.  What do you do that your clients could benefit from?  Email on your cellphone?  Sharepoint document libraries accessible from the internet?  Using VoIP with cool call routing and voicemail via email?  Show your clients how easy it is to integrate this "new" wave of technology into their day to day lives.
