mstsc /v:servername.or.ip /admin

There has been some documentation about this, but I wanted to take a moment to blog about it. The latest iteration of remote desktop includes a new switch that essentially replaces the old /console switch. The new switch is /admin and it…"Connects you to the session for administering the a server." If you have scripts or batch files or even RD files that includes the /console or enter it on a command line or 'run' or even the vista instant search, it acts like it connects you but it does not actually connect the user to the 'console' it really just ignores that switch all together.

Run from a command line or Vista Instant Search mstsc /?

I may have to do some investigation on the /public switch. I presume it means a shared session that is visible on the monitor at the server as well as remotely, but I do not know that at this time…

Good luck, post back if you do know, or find out…
