Using Outlook and Business Contact Manager to Organize Customers and Sales Activities

I'm currently using the Business Contact Manager add-in for Outlook to manage contacts and accounts.

In order to keep calls and meetings organized I use appointments in Outlook.

It is important to enter every opportunity as an appointment, even if you are just doing a cold call, or a referral call.  This way these activities don't get lost in the hectic shuffle of day-to-day sales.  Review your calendar at the beginning of the day, and update it at the end of each day.  Any appointments you don't get to at the end of the day, roll over or reschedule by priority.  I rarely delete appointments, usually they just get rescheduled.  In the case of lost business, I will push the appointment out as much as 90 days to follow up with the account (I usually rename the appointment "Follow Up on Lost Business- Acme Inc.)  On several occasions, this follow up produced additional opportunities.
